AGRIMONY LEAF
(Agrimonia Eupatoria) (aka Cocklebur) An herb with calming, astringent, and
toning properties. Known for its healing properties and is also a good
antiseptic for treatment of acne.
ALGAE - Obtained from seaweed, algae
are a natural moisturizer and is claimed to prevent wrinkles. Added to salt
baths to boost detoxifying action.
ALOE VERA GEL - The pulpy, expressed
juice of the Aloe Vera plant. Aloe Vera is famous for its moisturizing and soothing
properties, as well as for its ability to aid in healing.
ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS - Natural fruit
and milk acids (sugars) that improve the look and condition of skin by
accelerating the exfoliation of outer dead skin cells. Additionally, these
acids stimulate collagen synthesis, boost skin elasticity, and increase cell
renewal. The most common are lactic acid, mandelic asid, and glycolic acid.
ALMOND OIL (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis)
The oil pressed from the ripe seeds of the almond tree. A versatile carrier
oil which is good for all skin types. The oil acts to help replenish natural
skin oils lost during the cleansing process. The oil has exfoliating and
anti-inflammatory characteristics.
ANISE OIL (Pimpinella Anisium) The
oil of the flowering plant native to the Mediterranean region. It has
antiseptic and astringent properties. The oil contains anethole which is a
natural regenerator with anti-inflammatory properties. It is 13 times sweeter
than sugar.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (Pyrus Malus) -
Vinegar closes pores and preserves or restores the skin's natural acidity (pH
balance). Vinegar keeps both oily and dry complexions soft and fresh.
APRICOT KERNEL OIL (Prunus
Armeniaca) - An extremely desirable moisturizer rich in Vitamins A and E
extracted from the inedible kernels found in the apricot pit. It assists the
skin to retain elasticity and softness without being greasy. Excellent when
used on dry or mature skin.
ASCORBIC ACID (Vitamin C) - It can
stimulate skin protein production when applied to skin.
AVOCADO OIL (Persea Gratissima) - A
natural oil derived from the flesh of the avocado fruit. It is rich in Vitamin
A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, protein, and amino acids. One of the few vegetable
oils containing protein, avocado oil penetrates the skin deeply without leaving
an oily film on the skin. It promotes the regeneration of scarred skin,
conditions skin, and reduces dandruff while stimulating hair growth.
AZTEC MARIGOLD (Tagetes Erecta) - An
emollient oil that is naturally anti-fungal and antibacterial.
BALSAM OF PERU (Myroxylon Pereirae)
- An essential oil with a very rich, vanilla-like fragrance. Promotes healthy
growth of skin, and can be used for eczema, chapped hands, and to toughen
nipples in preparation for nursing.
BAY OIL An oil which is steam
distilled from the leaves and branches of the bay plant. It is a powerful
antiseptic with emollient qualities.
BEE POLLEN - Consists of plant
hormones, proteins, amino acids, enzymes, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and
other nutrients, which bees mix with their own saliva and store as food for the
winter. Energizing to the body, nourishing and rejuvenating to the skin, and
sweetly scented.
BEESWAX - A natural wax made by bees
in the cell walls of honeycombs. Beeswax is a natural emulsifier used in
cosmetics since prehistoric times. Adds a wonderful natural smell and color to
products, and helps to seal and protect the skin when used in moisturizing
products.
BENTONITE - A natural clay that is
an effective skin clarifier usually in facial masks.
BERGAMOT OIL (Citrus Bergamia) The
citrus oil from the hybrid fruit that crosses a pear lemon with the Seville
orange or grapefruit. The highest quality oil is from the trees grown in the
Lonian region of Italy due to the unique nutrients of the soil. The oil
is antiseptic and used to calm irritated skin including psoriasis.
BILBERRY EXTRACT - Extracted from
the leaves and fruit of the shrub, Bilberry is an astringent, cooling herb that
tones the skin. It is also a natural alpha hydroxy acid.
BLADDERWRACK (Fucus Vesiculosus) - A
seaweed, which having been extracted, is recommended for toning the skin and
stimulating cell activity.
BLUE VERVAIN LEAF A natural skin and muscle relaxer used for its
anti-inflammatory properties.
CALENDULA FLOWER (Calendula
Officinalis) - Calendula is classified as an anti-inflammatory and is often
used to treat itching and flaking skin conditions. An emollient oil that has a
soothing effect on the skin and is good for treating water retention and
cellulite. Used in treatment-type products for mature skin.
CALCIUM CARBONATE - A mildly
abrasive natural chalk. It is an absorbent for facial oils and helps smooth out
the complexion.
CAMPHOR A highly stimulating herb
with cooling properties. Used for oily skin and acne.
CANDELILLA WAX (Eupohorbia
Certifera) - A natural wax from the Candelilla plant which grows in Mexico. A
natural skin product that promotes thickness, body, and sheen.
CARNAUBA WAX A natural wax derived
from the leaf of a carnuba palm tree (Copernicia Prunifera) of Brazil. It is an
edible material wax often used in making candy, chewing gum, fruit juices,
baked food mixes, and frostings. It has the highest melting point of any known
wax. Its emollient properties helps it aid foods as a lubricant and releasing
agent.
CARRAGEENAN (Chondrus Crispus)
Made from a red seaweed also known as Irish Moss. Used for its excellent
emollient qualities.
CARROT POWDER The powder of dried
carrots. A vitamin rich compound with Beta Carotene that nourishes the
skin and helps improve skin tone and color. Also acts as a natural antioxidant
to help reverse free radical damage.
CARROT SEED OIL (Daucus Carota
Sativa) The oil made from distilling ground carrot seeds. It stimulates cell
renewal and stimulates the sweat and sebaceous glands. It also has skin
protectant properties and can help to reduce wrinkles.
CASTILE SOAP - A soap of vegetable
oil origin, usually olive oil.
CASTOR OIL - The oil extracted from
the castor bean. It is a moisturizer and natural pigment dispersant.
CEDARWOOD OIL - An oil that is steam
distilled from various cedar woods. It is a strong astringent and
cleansing oil that is also mild.
CEDAR LEAF OIL (Cedarwood Atlas)
The oil of the cedar leaf has strong antiseptic and astringent properties. It
also balances and regulates oil production.
CHAMOMILE (Anthemis Nobilis) - A
relaxing and rejuvenating herb which is good for dry skin, dermatitis, acne,
burns, and inflammation. Very aromatic with stress relieving properties and
safe for all skin types.
CHLOROPHILLIN-COPPER COMPLEX - A
water soluble derivative of chlorophyll. Used as a deodorizing agent in mouth
washes, breath fresheners and body deodorants.
CINNAMON OIL (Cinnamomum Cassia) -
The natural essential oil of the Cinnamon tree obtained by steam distillation
of the leaves, bark, and twigs.
CITRIC ACID - Natural alpha hydroxy
acid found in citrus fruits. It is a gentle exfoliate for skin.
CITRONELLA OIL (Cymbopogon Schoenanthus) - A fragrant oil made from
Citronella grass. Citronella oil is used as a raw material in the manufacture
of other oils and is extensively used in soap making.
CLOVE OIL (Eugenia Caryophyllus)
An essential oil from the buds of an aromatic tropical evergreen. It is a
natural antiseptic, disinfectant, and pain reliever. Sweet and spicy aroma.
COCOA BUTTER Made from the
triglycerides of fatty acids in the beans of the cacao tree (Theobroma Cacao).
It is an excellent emollient that softens and protects chapped skin, soothes
skin irritations, and reduces the signs of wrinkling including stretch marks.
It also acts a thickener in skin care products.
COCONUT OIL (Cocos Nucifera) -
Coconut oil is rich in emollient fat. It is sweetly scented and super
moisturizing. It acts as a good emulsifier in natural products in place of
chemical emulsifiers. It protects skin from the elements by forming a thin film
that does not get absorbed. Coconut oil also revitalizes dry skin and damaged
hair. Surfactants derived from coconut oil have good cleansing properties and
are known to be very mild.
COMFREY (Symphytum Officinale) A
perennial herb that contains allantoin which increases the natural replacement
of cells in the body. It has anti-inflammatory, astringent, and emollient
properties. It also works to heal wounds, cuts, burns, and bruises.
CORNMEAL- Used as natural abrasives
from corn and/or the corn cobs. It is an effective skin exfoliate that is
safe.
CORN STARCH (Zea Mays) - A highly
absorbent product derived from the corn plant. It absorbs moisture and oils
well. It produces a soft and soothing feel in facial products. It is often
added to creams and lotions to help the product spread on the skin more easily.
CRANBERRY EXTRACT The extract from
cranberries (Vaccinium Macrocarpon) is high in vitamin C. It is a naturally
acidic extract and has astringent properties. Early uses by Native
Americans were effective for cuts and wounds due to its natural anti-bacterial
activity.
CUCUMBER EXTRACT - The juice
extracted from the Cucumber (Cucumus Sativas) is mildly astringent and
soothing. It can help reduce puffiness of the skin and is mild enough to use on
most areas including the eyelid. Cucumber also has a slight bleaching action
which aids in removing dead skin cells.
CYPRESS OIL (Cupressus Sempervirens)
- This oil is steam distilled from the needles, twigs, and cones of this tall
evergreen which is native to southern Europe. It is clear to greenish-yellow
with a sharp and spicy smell. It stimulates circulation and has a
detoxifying effect on the body. It also helps regulate oil production of the
skin which makes it useful for controlling acne and dandruff.
DEAD SEA MUD - The clay obtained
from the Dead Sea in Israel. This clay has high concentrations of minerals that
help to remove impurities from skin pores. The clay stimulates and tones
skin.
DEAD SEA SALTS - The salt obtained
from the Dead Sea in Israel. These salts contain potassium, chlorine, sodium,
calcium, and magnesium. The salts are known to have skin rejuvenating, toning,
and purifying qualities.
DULSE (Rhodymenia Palmata) - A sea
weed that is an emollient and good for oily skin. It has detoxifying
qualities and helps balance pH levels.
ELDER FLOWER (Sambucus Nigra) - An
extract from the flowers of the elder tree. The extract is soothing to the skin
and has healing and gentle astringent properties. Helps to reduce
wrinkles, soften skin, and sooth sun burnt skin.
EMU OIL This oil is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It is
good for burns, wounds, and skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and
rosacea. It also helps to reduce age spots and stretch marks.
EUCALYPTUS OIL (Eucalyptus Globules) - A colorless oil from the leaves of the
Eucalyptus tree which is a native of Australia. It is a very good antiseptic
oil known for its unique fragrance. It soothes and refreshes skin cells.
EYEBRIGHT LEAF (Euphrasia
Officinalis) - A plant that is known for its astringent and anti-inflammatory
properties. It is safe for thin skin areas like that of the eyelid.
It also tones the skin to assist in wrinkle and puffiness reduction.
FLAX SEED OIL This oil is full of vitamin E. It is a strong antioxidant
that rejuvenates and restores skin cells.
FENNEL SEED The seed is known to
reduce inflammation. It also is used as an exfoliate in facial scrubs and
cleaners.
FIR NEEDLE OIL - A clear oil steam
distilled from the needles of the pine tree. It is a strong antiseptic and
works well as a deodorizer.
GERANIUM OIL - An oil with a fresh
and sweet fragrance steam distilled from the various species of the Geranium
flower. This oil is very therapeutic, antiseptic, and astringent. It
conditions and tones skin. It has a strong and relaxing aroma.
GLUCOSE & GLUCOSE OXIDASE - When
combined with glucose (sugar), Glucose oxidase and lactoperoxidase (natural enzymes),
act to preserve by consuming oxygen. This is a method to make natural cosmetics
inhospitable to micro-organisms.
GLYCERIN - A natural humectant and
emollient. A clear, sweet, syrupy liquid derived from vegetable oil.
Non-irritating and soothing, can be used on even the most sensitive skin.
GREEN TEA EXTRACT - A natural
antioxidant, green tea extract is a natural astringent and is effective in
treating troubled skin and breakouts.
GRAPE SEED OIL (Vitis
Vinifera) The oil expressed from grape seeds. It is a rich and soothing

blood pressure and cholesterol.
GRAPEFRUIT OIL The oil has a sharp

the skin. It is a natural astringent.
GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT (Citrus
Grandis) The extract from the seeds of the grapefruit. A natural bactericide,
preservative and stabilizer that is both tonic and astringent.
HAZELNUT OIL The oil from the
hazelnut. This oil is slightly astringent and toning. Good for all skin types.
It is rich in protein and unsaturated fat. It has high in Thiamine and
vitamin B6.

JUNIPER BERRY OIL A thin clear
liquid derived from the berries of the juniper bush which originally grew in
Syria and Arabia. The oil is an antiseptic, detoxifier, toner and astringent. It
works well on oily or damaged skin and is a good cleansing agent. It wicks
fluids and is useful to treat cellulite formulations.
KAOLIN A natural clay that is
finely textured and light in color. The pink, orange, and red clays are all
members of kaolin family that have mixed with aluminum silicate in the soil.
Its excellent absorbent, tightening and toning properties make it valuable for
face masks.
KELP (Lamanaria Digitata) The
large seaweed is used in facial masks to detoxify and reduce wrinkles. It is
high in vitamin B9, magnesium, and iron.
KRAMERIA EXTRACT (aka Rhatany) -
A powerful astringent with light toning characteristics from the plant
that grows in Peru and Bolivia. It also has styptic qualities for tooth gums
and wounds.
LANOLIN The wax extracted from
sheep wool after shearing. Lanolin is rich in cholesterol and well suited for
the treatment of brittle hair and fingernails as well as dry skin. It is an
excellent emollient, skin lubricant and protector. Lanolin is also useful in natural
cosmetic formulations as it adds thickness and body to a cream or salve without
the use of chemical thickeners.
LAVENDER OIL (Lavandula Latifolia) -
The oil distilled from the flower spikes of lavender. It has a fresh clean
scent known for its aromatic calming properties which may relieve headaches as
well as coughs or respiratory ailments. It is also a natural bud repellant
including mosquitoes. It is a strong antiseptic and works as a pain reliever on
wounds, burns, and insect bites. This oil has worked well as a message oil to
relieve joint and muscle pain. The oil also is known to stimulate skin
cell growth thus reducing scarring, blemishes, and wrinkles. It has also been
used to treat head lice. It is currently being studied as a potential cancer
treatment for breast, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, and liver cancer. Early
results show it may have reduced mammary tumors in lab rats.
LEMONGRASS OIL (aka Cymbopogon) -
Several types exist including Cymbopogon Flexuosus which has highly antifungal
properties good for use in natural cleaning products. Cymbopogon Nardus
produces citronella oil which is a natural insect repellanrt with excellent
antiseptic properties. The Cymbopogon Martinii or INDIAN GERANIUM is
known as a natural fragrance for its strong sweet aroma. Lemongrasses are good
natural weed controllers, antibacterial agents, and pain relievers.
LEMON OIL The oil obtained from
the fresh peel of the lemon. It is a known astringent and anti-irritant that
imparts shine to the hair when added to hair care products. The low pH level
makes it a skin balancer for overactive sebaceous glands that lead to oily,
blemished skin. It is also effective in treating brittle fingernails and in
general hand care. Lemon oil is a natural non-toxic insecticide, hair color
lightener, sanitizer, deodorizer, and disinfectant.
LEMON VERBENA (Aloysia Triphylla) -
A leaf of the shrub native to South America to make LEMON VERBENA OIL.
The oil is a strong antiseptic and aromatically stimulating. It is a natural anti-inflammatory
and skin toner. It works well to decrease puffiness around the eyes and
eyelids.
LIME OIL The oil extracted from
the lime or the lime skin through distillation of cold pressing. It has high
astringent, antiseptic and non-irritating qualities. Lime oil is works well for
treating acne. It is highly aromatic and mood uplifting.
MAGNESIUM SULFATE (aka. Epsom Salts)
- The small white crystal resembling salt. It is used in bath salts to draw
toxic substances from the body through the skin and acts as a inflammation
reducer. It is highly effective for sore, tired, or achy muscles. It is a
fertilizer for gardening of potatoes, roses, tomatoes, and peppers that have
magnesium deficiencies.
MARSHMALLOW (Althaea Officinalis) A leaf from the herb
plant indigenous to Europe and western Asia. The MARSHMALLOW ROOT is included
as an excellent emollient and anti-inflammatory that treats bruises, burns,
muscle aches, insect bites and other skin inflammations. The root contains 2 ฝ
times the amount of mucilage, which is the soothing agent of the plant.
MENTHOL - A natural waxy crystalline
that is white or clear. It is known for its anesthetic and counter-irritant
qualities. Traditionally, menthol has been used to relive minor throat
irritations. It is an analgesic useful for muscle cramps and soreness. It has a
cooling affect to sunburns and is used in lip balms and cough medicines.
MUGWORT (Artemisia Vulgaris) The
oil derived from the distillation of the whole plant, sometimes referred to as
common wormwood. It is strongly aromatic and slightly musky. It has antiseptic
properties. It has been used for years to treat menstrual pain and discomfort
when consumed as a tea with or without ginger.
MYRRH (Commiphora Myrrha) A
resinous material which is actually dried sap of the tree native to Yemen,
Somalia, and eastern Ethiopia. It is known for its aromatic qualities as
well as its soothing properties. It is a good antiseptic and remedy for
localized skin problems such as rashes. It also has been used for wrinkles and
other skin aging issues.
NETTLES (Urtica Dioica) - The herb
of the plant known as the stinging weed. It is rich in minerals and plant
hormones having tonic, astringent and revitalizing properties. It stimulates
hair growth and adds shine and softness to hair while controlling dandruff. It
also eases the effects of eczema. Other uses have included relief from
arthritis, anemia, hay fever, kidney problems, and general pain reliever.
NUTMEG (Myristica Fragrans) The
seed of the tree that is closely related to the evergreen. The oil of the seed
is used in perfumery and often combined with other oils like almond,
sandalwood, and lavender. It is used as a massage oil to stimulate circulation
and to relieve rheumatic pains and achy joints. It is a mild stimulant and pain
killer.
OATS (Avena Sativa) The extract is
naturally soothing to the skin and helps relieve the irritation of dry itchy
skin. The extract also absorbs oils which leaves a silky smooth feel to the
skin and acts as a mild exfoliate. OAT PROTEIN, also known as avenalin,
is water soluble and nearly equivalent in quality to that of soy protein. The
protein is a very good natural emulsifier.
OLIVE OIL The oil obtained from
pressing ripe olives of olive tree (Olea Europaea). Olive oil is classified by
the USDA in four grades A to D, with type A having the lowest content of free
fatty acids. A carrier oil that is best for the skin when labeled extra virgin
olive oil. It has healing and moisturizing properties. It has been known to
cure skin rashes and with the addition of some other essential oils like
rosemary or tea tree to treat facial skin. This oil has penetrating qualities
which makes it a good hydrating oil for hair and skin alike.
OAT STRAW see OATS. Oat has also
been known to treat a number of ailments and boost the immune system when drank
as an herbal tea. Oats are well known skin soothers for burns and eczema.
ORANGE OIL An essential oil steam
distilled or cold-pressed from the bitter orange tree of which the later is
preferred. This oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties for the
skin when used in small quantities. The oil is good for circulation and has
strong antiseptic qualities. It has been used to reduce wrinkles, cellulite,
and stretch marks.
ORANGE WAX The wax produced from
orange rinds by cold-press method. It has excellent emollient
properties. It is also antimicrobial.
PATCHOULI OIL (Pogostemon Cablin)
The oil from the bushy herb that belongs to the mint family. It has a heavy and
strong scent which is has been used in perfumes for centuries. It has a wide
range of properties including antiseptic, stimulating, healing, hydrating, and
possibly aphrodisiac qualities. It is one of the most robust plants for
cultivating.
PARSLEY EXTRACT - Parsley is rich in
Vitamin C, pro-vitamin V and chlorophyll. It increases circulation to the skin
and helps purify the skin. It has antimicrobial, antiseptic, and astringent
properties.
PARSLEY LEAF A soothing and
antiseptic herb with healing properties. It has been used to treat acne,
psoriasis, and eczema within skin and facial creams.
PECAN SHELL POWDER (Carya
Illinoensis) The powder from the ground pecan shell is an excellent, gentle,
and natural exfoliate.
PEPPERMINT OIL (Mentha Piperita)
The oil form the hybrid mint plant is refreshing, reviving, and highly
fragrant. It has a high menthol content that is used in tea, toothpaste, candy,
gum, and other foods. It contains cooling, pain relieving and antiseptic
properties. It has large quantities of nutrients including manganese, vitamin

PINE TAR The sticky material
produced by carbonization (heat & pressure) of the pine tree stumps and
roots. It is an excellent antiseptic for all kinds of skin conditions and
diseases.
PANTHENOL The pro-vitamin of B5
which is a humectants, emollient, and moisturizer. It binds and conditions hair
while lubricating the follicle. In ointment form it conditions skin that is
sunburned, burned, or afflicted with disease. It is an excellent penetrator of
the skin and therefore is a highly effective for hydration, anti-inflammatory,
and healer of skin disorders.
PUMICE The lightweight volcanic
rock that is crushed for use as a mild abrasive. It is an excellent
exfoliate for skin care and an abrasive cleaner in toothpaste and soaps.
PURIFIED WATER - Water that has been
treated to filter out sediments, remove all dissolved minerals and kill all
micro-organisms. The preferred method is distillation which is the result of
boiling water and capturing its steam. Deionized water removes mineral
impurities as well and is commonly used in cosmetics and other skin care
products. However, deionized water does not remove organic molecules,
viruses, or bacteria. Other good purification methods include reverse osmosis
and carbon filtration which are the preferred treatment for drinking water.
RETINYL PALMITATE - The dry or oil
forms of vitamin A palmitate that is conerted to retinol after absorbed by the
skin. Retinol is then transformed into retinoic acid which protects skin cells
at the molecular level from disease. It is a powerful treatment for acne,
keratosis pilaris, and aging skin. It increases collagen levels to help skin
resist the formation of wrinkles.
RICE FLOUR A highly absorbent
flour derived from finely ground rice. It is used to absorbs both moisture and
oils. Also, a gluten free substitute for wheat flour.
ROSE HIP SEED OIL (Rosa Mosqueta) - A Triglyceride (vegetable oil) that is
high in polyunsaturated fats and vitamin C. It is soothing, softening and
regenerating to the skin. A good treatment for aging skin, scars, and dry skin.
ROSE OIL (aka Rose Otto) - An
essential oil derived from steam distillation of rose petals. It has soothing
and cleansing properties that have a softening and refining effect on the skin.
It is antiseptic and mildly astringent for dry or chapped skin, helping to
restore pH balance. Good for all skin types.
ROSEMARY (Rosmarinus Officinalis)
The herb native to the Mediterranean region and part of the mint family. It is

is also used as a natural exfoliate.
TAGETES EXTRACT (Tagetes Minuta)
(aka Mexican Marie Gold, Aztec Marigold) The herbal extract has anti-fungal
